As a member of Amigas Latinas for College I promise to (or help my daughter fulfill her promise):

1.     Be an active and committed member of Amigas Latinas for College by:

·  inviting other young  women to join

·  participating in community service opportunities

· Sign Parent Permission and Liability Release Form

·  engaging in scholarship building for myself & others (academic achievement, tutoring, applying for financial aid when needed, summer book study, literacy building workshops, etc.)

·  assisting in fundraising efforts for ALC’s education funding accounts and for ALC operating expenses

 

·  attending all meetings and paying the yearly dues of $25.00 1st year includes ALC polo shirt). $20 thereafter

·  taking advantage of scholarship opportunities for which I am qualified.  I will ask for help if needed

 

2.     Be a responsible officer or chairman, to help other members and make the organization stronger;

3.     Notify in advance, in case of absence, an officer, Baxt or other responsible adult with the reasons for my absence, if I cannot attend a meeting. If I am an officer, I must find a replacement, if a chair, find someone to report for me.

*(I understand that I can be dropped as a member and lose all accumulated points with 3 unexcused absences.)

4.     To commit to the following objectives of Amigas Latinas for College:

(a)   Academic achievement

(b)   Mentorship

(c)   Leadership development

(d)   Fundraising

(e)   Community Service

(f)    Scholarship pursuit, if needed

In addition, I understand:

1.     In order to be a member, I must attend meetings and pay the nominal dues of $20.00 per school year ($25 first year & receive ALC polo shirt).

2.     In order to be a member in good academic standing, I will maintain an overall B average or above; or, if struggling academically, I will take advantage of tutoring and academic skill building opportunities.

3.     In order to earn points through the CSFE (Community Service, Fundraising and Education) a temporary Point System pilot program, I must report community service and fundraising hours and grades by the end of the next month after receiving them.  (Grades can be emailed (vbaxt@amigaslatinas4college.org) or sent to Virginia Baxt, 23210 Oak Hollow Lane, Tomball, Tx 77377 up to 1 month after receiving them.)

4.     Community Service hour points are limited to 20 per month and must be turned in no later than 1 month after earning them.

5.     Three (3) unexcused absences are cause for membership termination and loss of all points.

6.     Community Voices Leadership Sessions are valuable opportunities for members to develop leadership and problem-solving skills. (It is requested that members participate in Community Voices Leadership Sessions, which are usually held in the summer.)

7.     When requesting funds for education expenses through the CSFE System that I need to give at least one (1) week advance notice to the director; and provide to her with all necessary information—for example, educational institution’s name to which the check should be made payable, school’s department to receive the check, address of institution, student ID number, and the university’s special Account name, if required.
